During my first semester I stayed in the oldest dorms at Cal Poly called palmitas and honestly I wouldn’t live there again. It was only meant for two people and i was in a room with three people and it was extremely small and not well insulated. My second semester I moved into the brand new dorms called secoya and I would definitely live there again – the rooms were more than big enough to fit three people and they were very clean and comfortable. Palmitas didn’t have any unique features. Secoya had lots – air conditioning that would stop when you opened the window, elevators, study rooms, lounge rooms with a tv, hardwood floors, beds that could be elevated, desks and desk chairs. Future students shouldn’t stay in the old dorms on campus, they should try and aim to get a spot in the new dorms and they’ll enjoy college that much more.
Pros
Air conditioning/heater, accessibility to campus, parking, dining hall, kitchen amenities, study rooms
Cons
A little expensive, hard to get a spot, only allows freshman
